Please Help Control The Human Population, Have Your Children Spayed Or Neutered

Ok, we REALLY need to get it in our heads to stop popping out so many damn kids.  I understand the desire to leave a legacy although I dont share it.  Earth simply cannot continue to support 6.5 billion people.  Thats not just me talking, (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4584572.stm).  We are running out of resources.  We are running out of oil.  We are running out of natural gas.  We are running out of coal.  We are running out of trees.  Along with trees goes clean air.  Without some radical advances in technology ala Star Trek, I dont see how we as a species will ever survive.   The only other option I see is to colonize other planets which would again, require radical advances in technology.  People, seriously, stop having children.  Im not saying to stop having sex, that would be antithetical to the very nature of humans.  Im saying to take some responsibility and stewardship for the planet that we all have to live on.

  1. I agree. Another problem are those people that keep popping out kids they can’t afford and when they aren’t mentally intelligent enough to raise kids. Society (Taxpayers) are over burdoned having to financially support these kids. Many of these kids come from socially devient families and become devients themselves.

  2. I respectfully disagree, Dexter. I say we are not fucking dangerously enough. All this warring and killing each other needs to be temporarily taken down just a notch, m’k. You know the tired old saying. And stop it with the safe sex for crying out loud. We need to up the ante in our kid-popping-out if you ask me. Otherwise how in the hell are we to keep up with the competition? Throw your jimmy hats in the trash and let’s get it on. How else will we continue to guarantee our elite military of the future will be adequately staffed? As for running out of resources, that’s just a popular myth. The truth is, our resources are running out of US. You pointed out yourself that you don’t see how we as a species will ever survive. Remember, our species is certainly not limited to the populace of the top superpowers. Far from it. If there’s one thing you should count on Dex, its that humanity will survive, you can bet on it bub. I’ll tell you what’s antithetical to the very nature of humans. And that is to stop proliferating. I do agree, however, that we must take some responsibility and stewardship for the planet, but I can push this one step further. I believe we humans should take FULL responsibility for this planet. As for the earth not being able to continue to support 6.5 billion people, yes the solution to that is looming large: its called megadeath. In short, there will soon be no need whatsoever for anyone to bother trying to control the human population. There is simply no need to have your children spayed or neutered. This sort of mentality has got to go to make headway for the perserverance of the human race. Look, the United States Of America are the collective Superpower Of Earth, and I don’t see that changing at any time in the future. Neither you, I, nor generations of Mahatma Gandhi’s are going to change the fact that our military stock is guaranteed to breed for as long as our Sun continues to operate through its main-sequence evolution, which is about another 5 billion years approximately. We are no more likely to inhibit our war movement than we are our morning wood, dude. So wake up and stroke the coffee. I mean smell the war. “I love the smell of napalm in the morning”

  3. So if we do as you say to ” get our children spayed and neutered” then how will humans survive, eventually we will all die off and then there will be no one left. I do agree that people should not have children if they are not responsible and can not afford to raise them not that I am a good role model for this concept but at least I was able to recongize that I was not able to fufill my responsibility and did not want to rely on society to provide for me and my children. Those people should be limited to the amount of children they can have but how can anyone really control that, they can’t. So we will continue to pay our taxes and pay for those lazy people to sit on their butts and take all our money while we go out there and work our butts off.

  4. The title was a play on words. Dont you remember Bob Barker may he rest in peace? I dont really think that we should get our children fixed but we dont seem to get it in our heads that we cannot indefinatly sustain our current level of development.

  5. It’s a mixed bag. I’ve heard studies where population increases actually saved third world countries from economic melt down, but it all depends on the rules of the game. You should check out the book “Twelve Myths of World Hunger” Dex. It’s great, and it actually talks about the ways that we can support far more than 6 billion people quite well, without destroying the planet in the process, and even with the technology we have now. Politics are the problem. We manipulate the governments around us and keep them under our thumbs in a cycle of indentured servitude they can never escape, and meanwhile they support our inescapable cycle of consumption. So-called free trade and corporate-nations gone wild are a far bigger threat than babies. Oh, did I tell you I’m pregnant? So anyway, let’s make smart babies, buy electric cars, and try to change the system.

    Shaun, ur funny.

  6. I guess I should clarify that we are using our existing technology in such ways that they are harmful. You are right in that we can solve many of todays problems. Read ‘The End of Poverty’ by Jeffrey Sacs.
