America! Fuck Yeah!

I have spent a lot of time lately discussing with various people the things that are wrong with our country.  Therefore, I thought I would try to maintain some balance and write a post about the things that are right with America because even though I loathe my government, I love my country.  For starters, I love that I can write a blog post about how much I hate our government.  Although the day may come when the government censors such posts, that day is not today.  I love that my country has afforded me the opportunity to grow up from an impoverished childhood to a college graduate with letters after my name.  I love that I don’t have a curfew and if I want to walk to 7-eleven at 2 in the morning to get a slurpy, I can if I want to.  I love that I have the right to own a gun and can shoot any bastard who comes through my door uninvited.  I love that I can vote in any election regardless of my income or education level or what sex I am.  I love that I have the right to choose who I want to marry and I could even marry a guy if I swung that way.  I love that I can stand on the steps of the United States Capitol and scream words like, “Karl Rove is a lying fucker!” (Which I have done by the way.)  I love that our country has one of the best transportation infrastructures in the world.  I love that our economy is stable and jobs are readily available to anyone who wants one.  I love that I can write a blog post with words like ‘bastard’ and ‘fucker’.

Im Eriq Kiltz and I approved this message.

  1. I’m sorry that you loathe your government. It seems to me that your government has served you well. It has given you freedom, it has given you a job with benefits, and it allows you to do and say outrageous things. All that you say is right, is right! But with fredoma and free speech also comes responsibility. Yes, you have the right to call Karl Rove a lying “fucker,” but you would be respected more and gain more credibility without the profanity and the use of the one word that offends most people.

Your headline, “America! Fuck Yeah!” will attract a lot of attention but will also turn away many others who find it offensive and will not respect the author. Which group would you rather sway? I sometimes use swear words liberally but I’m most proud when I can make a point with more acceptable language.

Still, this country affords us the right to use what ever idioms we desire. I would fight to protect save this basic human expectation.

By the way, what don’t you like about Karl Rove?

  2. The constitution of the United States gives me freedom. My government of the United States has taken away my freedoms. As far as my swearing goes, I think society is growing more accepting of swearing. It seems to me that the ramifications of saying fuck are less than when you were my age. My headline is a play on the movie Team America: World Police. During that movie, it depicted a war with North Korea and they had a song where the lyrics were interspersed with the words, ‘America! Fuck Yeah!’ When I was screaming, “Karl Rove is a lying fucker”, I was with a group of people who did not care and in fact appreciated the fact that I was outspoken about an issue of concern to me. As far as why I dislike him, he is an instigator and partisan. Two examples, after 9/11, he made some comment about how Democrats voted to hand down indictments and hold therapy sessions. In fact, EVERY Democrat serving in the Senate voted to go to war against Afghanistan. Another example would be his lack of respect for the judicial process. He has been ordered to testify before congress regarding his role in the Attorney’s General firings and did not show. I see that as a slap in the face to our system of checks and balances.

  3. The constitution gives you the rigtht and the power to elect a constitutional body to represent your interests. It is your duty to do what you can (within the law) to influence who becomes your representative. We must fight to maintain our prescious right of freedom. But we must also intelligently pick our battles.

I would be suspicious of a group of people that encourage you to go around yelling profanities. Being out spoken is one thing but being discusting is another. I appreciate that you were with a group that didn’t mind your language but would you like your small child to have heard it? Remember, freedom of speech also comes with responsibility.

Every politician that defies the constituion and the law should be held accountable. I don’t believe in interfering in someones personal life but do we really want a preident as stupid as John Edwards. Why do these guys keeping doing dumb things. If they want to play around they should find another career path.

I sure wish we had a different choice in this election. With me the main issue is taxes. Obamawants to increase the Capital Gain Tax and the Inhertitance Tax. I’m sorry, this is my money and it has alreaday been taxed. If you haven’t heard about the “Fair” tax, I recomendn you get the book by Neal Boortz. I believe in the Fair Tax and would support any candidate that was behind this form of taxation.

  4. I agree with you on your fist paragraph for the most part. However, regarding your comment that we must intelligantly pick our battles, it is because we dont fight back more often that the government gets it in their head that they can walk right over us. We must not allow the government to take away even the smallest right or they will keep getting more and more powerful. We do we fight? Why do we not fight when the governent starts looking at our library records? Why do we think that that right is not worth fighting for?

Noone encouraged me to swear. I have been to many a protest rally and I refuse to get swept up in the emotions of the crowd unless I feel the same way the majority of them do. When I was screaming that about Karl Rove, I was in fact the only person I heard screaming anything about Karl Rove. No I wouldnt want a small child to hear me but I would never allow a child of mine to come with me to something like that. Protests are dangerous and are no place for small children.

I agree with you on the tax issue but then again politician’s will always say one thing and do another so Obamas tax ideas may not come to fruition.

  5. Your first sentence encourages me – sounds very non liberal. Regarding your last sentence…what you say about politicians is true. But what Obama stands for in tax issues (he is a tax and spend Democrat)I wouldn’t want to take a chance. Read, “The Fair Tax” by Neal Boortz. It will open your eyes. I’ve said it before …I’ll vote for any candidate thst promotes the Fair Tax.

  6. I understand you feel that way about Obama but again, from my experience, the Republicans have put so much debt on our shoulders we wont get out from under it for decades.

  7. Hopefully that will change with Bush out of office. Both candidates they support less government spending- we’ll see.

  8. Remember when Bill Clinton had a plan to eliminate deficit spending by 2013? I do have to say one thing for Republicans, in Utah the state constitution mandates that the legislature never pass a deficit budget. In the entire history of Utah, there has never been a budget deficit. Even during the great depression. Ad to that that Utah spends more per capita on social spending than any other state in the Union.

  9. It appears that other States should look into what Utah is doing right.
