A Warning to Barack Obama

My support for Senator Obama remains strong. I still maintain that Obama is the best candidate for president. One of the things I like about him is that he is still ‘one of the people’. I like that he hasnt become a ‘politician’ and therefore corrupt. However, Obama needs to tread carefully and avoid further incidents such as when he tried to breeze past a desk clerk at his new gym. He is not above having to stop and check in no matter who he is. Sure, when he is president then special security arrangements will have to be made but he really needs to be careful and not start thinking he is above anyone else. That is what I despise about most politicians.

Thank goodness for high gas prices.

Go ahead and troll away.  Go ahead and call me unamerican.  Go ahead and tell me I’m a dumb ass.  I know that im part of a small minority who thinks that high gas prices are only a good thing.  For far to long, Americans have been gluttonous consumers.  We eat everything in site and drive our SUV’s two damn blocks to the McDonalds.  I know that high gas prices will hurt many in the short term but I truly believe that once our society has learned to adjust we will be better off.  We must learn to rely more on our legs, bikes, and public transportation.  I know that many in some cities do not have the luxury of trains and buses that I enjoy.  However, I think public pressure will force such cities to institute transportations options.  Not to mention that more people using public transportation will result in less congestion for those that do have to drive.  I hear that even my dinky little home town in Kansas is considering a fixed-route bus system.  Food prices will likely remain high but I think that to is a good thing.  We Americans must adjust our consumption habits to sustain our natural resources.  Once we learn to eat a balanced diet and not overindulge, we should be able to adapt.  I relish high gas prices.  Let them go higher!
