Who Asked Me?

Political Commentary from an independant perspective.

OH MY FREAKING GOD ITS HANNAH MONTANA! IM GOING TO DO ANYTHING IT TAKES TO GET TICKETS EVEN IF I HAVE TO LIE AND DECIEVE THE PUBLIC AND GO AGAINST ANY MORAL PRINCIPLES I MIGHT HAVE LEARNED ON HER TELEVISION SHOW!

“My Daddy Died This Year in Iraq.”  Wow, such powerful and moving words.  Such a crock of shit.  Stupid little girl had her mom write this bullcrap essay about losing her daddy (who isnt in the military and didnt die) just to win some Hannah Montana tickets.  Well, first of all, who would want to go to her concert anyway, she has no talent.  Second of all, what kind of evil bitch would write an essay like this for her daughter?  Does her daughter even understand the war?  Her daughter is 6 years old, what a great impression to leave on a child during an impressionable age.  Then, the stupid bitch’s sister came on the news and made up another crock of shit about how “she did it as a joke, she didnt think it would win.”  I am dead serious here, I want to punch this stupid lady in the eye.

Personification of a Politician

I humbly opine that Mitt Romney needs to decide if he is a Mormon or if he is a politician.  He doesn’t seem to be able to do both.  His recent comments about how the last person that god spoke to being Moses is a blatent contradiction to what the Mormon church teaches.  (I should know, I am a former Morg)  The Morg church teaches that god found his voice again in the 1820’s when he began speaking Joseph Smith.  They also teach that god has been rather talkative to selected other guys up to the current ‘Prophet’ Gordon B Hinkley.  So Mr. Romney, how do you figure that god last spoke to Moses if you also claim to believe that GBH has heart to heart’s with the capital G?  You wouldn’t just be saying that to try to win votes from those evangelical Iowans would you?  Of course, there are some who would not fault you for trying to win as many votes as possible.  However, if you supposedly have these beliefs which fit into religious principles, how can you deny them and expect the American people to trust you?  I have to agree with the Concord Monitor, you are nothing but a phoney and you must be stopped.

Obama for president ya’ll, im outie.

To Run Or Not To Run

What is the deal with Fred Thompson anyway?  First he says he does not want to run for President.  Then he waits until everyone else enters the race.  Then he changes his mind and finally enters.  Then he runs a lackadaisical campaign with speech’s few and far between.  Now, scant days before the first and possibly the most important caucus (Iowa) he says that although he wants to BE President, he has little interest in RUNNING for President.  “I’m not particularly interested in running for president, but I think I’d make a good president,” he said at a rare campaign appearance.    He went on to say that although he is not comsumed by the polical process of running, his sacrifices are proof that he is running for the right reasons.  Poor guy had to cancel television and radio shows to run.

I think that Mr. Thompson doesnt fully understand what he got himself into.  He seems to think that just telling one or two people why he would make a good President is enough.  Well Mr. Thompson, there are millions of people who need to hear your message and if you dont ‘Run’ then you wont ‘Win’.  I mean seriously, I would love to take Natalie Portman to bed with me but its not going to happen if I dont work at it.

Im Eriq Kiltz and I approved this message.

A Picture Worth A Thousand Emails

obama-pledge.jpg

Well, by now who hasnt heard of this famous picture of Barack Obama without his hand on his heart supposedly during the pledge of allegiance?  Emails abound accusing Senator Obama of being unpatriotic.  Accusations have also flown about Senator Obama not wearing an American Flag lapel pin when he is in a suit.  First of all, according to Time magazine who first printed this picture, this is not taken during the pledge of allegiance, it is during the Star Spangled Banner.  According to Mr. Obama, his grandfather taught him to put his hand on his heart during the pledge but to sing during the National Anthem.  Of course, many of us were taught different, to put our hand on our heart during the Anthem.  But, who are we to judge how Senator Obama was brought up?  In response to the accusation about the lapel pin, Obama said that he chooses to not wear a pin which has become a political symbol instead of a personal symbol.  Instead, he chooses to follow what is in his heart which is, indeed, true patriotism.  Mr. Obama has made it clear that he loves his country.

Well, here’s my two cents worth.  Lets suppose for a moment that Barack Obama really did refuse to put his hand on his heart during the pledge of allegiance.  I ask you, so what?  Is this a socialist state where we have to swear our lives to the motherland?  No, this is the United States of America, which is supposedly the land of the free.  Placing one’s hand and reciting the pledge are acts of patriotism in my humble opinion.  If you force one to do this, you are in effect forcing one to be patriotic.  Compulsory patriotism is not true patriotism.  A true patriot, one who really loves one’s country will do these acts not because he is told to, but because he has a desire to.  Those who are close to me know that I am very patriotic.  I love our system of government; I love our constitution; indeed, I love my country.  I am the first one to remove my hat and place my hand over my heart whenever I hear the National Anthem.  I am the first to stand and recite the pledge.  I do this not because it is expected, but because I wish to express my patriotism.  To those who would criticize Senator Obama, I say, mind your own fucking business.  Let the man express his patriotism in his own way and you express yours in your way.

Just a teeny tiny mistake

A local radio station in Salt Lake City, KSL, reported last night that Benizir Bhutto died from an assasination ‘attempt’.

Reminds me of Yoda’s speech to Luke Skywalker.  “Do, or do not.  There is no try.”

What is political anyway?

My thanks to Hillary Clinton for today giving me one more reason to despise her.  If you read my previous post about Benizir Bhutto, you know that a senior official in the Obama camp made a comment about Ms. Clinton voting for the war created a situation wherein the assasination of Ms. Bhutto was more likely to occur.  Well, today Hillary accused Obama of bringing politics into the assasination.  THE HELL WOMAN?  Benizir Bhutto was a political figure.  Her assasination was a political event.  (By the way, the official cause of death is not bullet wounds or shrapnel but a bump on the head.)  Seriously, what kind of politician accuses a politician of bringing politics into politics?  She went on to poke at his limited foreign policy experience.  Obama fired back with a whitty remark about how sitting around drinking tea as first lady does not an experienced foreign policy maker make.  Obama 1, Hillary 0!

When Pundits Arent

According to Wikipedia, Pundit is defined as: an expert or opinion-leader who analyzes events in his or her area of expertise in the popular media.  One would expect a presidential candidate to be, if not an expert, at least well advised in matters they speak of.  To that end, what the crap was Mike Huckabee smoking today when he informed the press of the horrible threat posed by 660 illegal immagrants from Pakistan?  Aside from the fact that 660 seems like a miniscule number compared to the estimated 12 million illegal Mexicans in our country, Mr. Huckabee did not even know where he got his ‘fact’.  He was quoted as saying, “Those are numbers that I got today from a briefing, and I believe they are CIA and immigration numbers.”  One would have to hear the sound bite to appreciate his stumbling around this question.  I say to Mr. Huckabee, stick to God.  Even if your religious rhetoric is mearly playing to the evangelicals in Iowa, at least you sound like you know what you are talking about.  Of course, your campaign speeches sound like a sermon.

When Tigers Attack!

Those who know me know that I am very much anti-zoo.  Im not some extremist animal rights activist (I think PETA is a bunch of idiots) but I still think caging up animals so people can go “oooooohhhhh, aaaahhhhhh” is just plain evil.  Seriously, if I want to see a damn elephant I will rent a damn Discovey Channel video or go to Angola myself.  Some say that zoos play a vital role in protecting animals from threats such as poaching.  Hogwash, humans are killed every day but you dont see us in cages “for our protection.”  Stop the poaching and you will stop the dying.  Some say that zoos are vital to protect animals from extinction due to loss of habitat.  Well this may be true but is the answer really to put Zebras in cages?  There are to damn many humans on this planet as it is.  We really need to stop having babies.  The BBC did a study wherein they estimated that the earth could only sustain 1 billion persons indefinately.  Us stupid humans are so damn worried about carrying on our family line.  What the fuck difference does it make?  This planet has a finite amout of resources and cannot sustain our level of development forever.  Seriously, either we need to get it in our heads that 3.2 children are to much or some well minded individual needs to put infertility drugs in the water supply.  (Especially here in Utah…..)  Stop the human encroachment into habitat and you will stop the extinction of animals.

Ok, now on to more specific matters.  I have to admit,  I am no expert on the events at the San Francisco Zoo this week.  However, I will speak from what I do know.  First of all, the animal was responsible for a mauling of a zookeeper only last year.  I think that proves that the animal is not fit for living in a human environment.  Had it been me, I would have sent the Tiger back to Siberia.  However, it was not me and the Tiger remained to attack again.  I hear that the teenager who was killed had been taunting the animal and maybe even stuck his arm or leg into the cage.  WTF?  Aside from the fact that only an idiot would put his leg into a Tiger cage, the idiots father was on Fox News today.  He had the audacity to say that he blamed the Tiger.  He said that even if his son had been throwing objects at the Tiger, the animal should not have attacked…… WTF?  I would like to throw this piece of shit into a cage and have people oogle at him all day and taunt him by sticking things into the cage.  Seriously, what a nutjob.

Benazir Bhutto 1953-2007

I am struck by the glaring differences between US and Pakistani politics.  The media is reporting that Ms. Bhutto did not have full armour on her vehicle because it would make her look like she is hiding.  That sure never stopped a US politician.  I remember the last time President Bush came to Salt Lake City.  He had a fully armoured cadillac, helicopter gunship overhead and enough armed police to occupy Paris.  (Ok, bad example.)

The media seems determined to stir up controversy.  Apparently, someone in Barack Obama’s campaign made a comment that Hillary Clinton’s vote to invade Iraq created a situtation wherein the assasination of Ms. Bhutto was more likely to occur.  Well, CNN twisted that to mean that Hillary Clinton was responsible for the assasination.  WTF?  Speaking of CNN (and before I go on I have to point out that I listen to them religiously on my satelite radio) when I was driving to work this morning at 6am the lovely Soledad O’brian came on with the breaking news about Ms. Bhutto.  Then, this afternoon, the elequent yet wordy Wolf Blitzer was still refering to the assasination as ‘Breaking News!’  My question to CNN is, how long can a story be considered ‘Breaking’ before it just becomes regular news.  At the very least, I would have labeled it as a ‘Developing Story.’

Although I have (ok, had) no love for Ms. Bhutto (she was nothing if not an instigator), I do fear a power vacume in the region.  President Musharraf needed someone to keep his hunger for power in check.  Without Ms. Bhutto, what is to stop Musharraf from donning his uniform again?  I dont see anyone in that region willing to stand up to him at this point.  The Indians are afraid of him, the Afghans are to busy growing poppy, the Iraqis are to busy trying to distinguish a bin of Tinker Toys from an IED, President Mahmoud Adolphhitlerjad is to busy plotting the destruction of Israel and speaking of Israel, they are to busy fighting the Palestinians to care about Pakistan.

Well, regardless of my opinion of Ms. Bhutto, it is always sad when a human being loses their life.  May she rest in pieces peace.
